Lean Masterclass on October 26 from 13.30h - 20.00h near Antwerp

 

Lean Masterclass given by Ritsuo Shingo, former Executive President JV Toyota China & Hino Motors, participated for the start up of five Toyota manufacturing plants outside Japan. He is the son of Dr. Shigeo Shingo, the renowned expert in improving manufacturing processes within the Toyota Production System.

He will talk about his experiences and learnings at Toyota. Anyone who registers will have the chance to suggest a Lean related question to Ritsuo Shingo. The second part of this event will consist of a discussion, moderated by Dirk Van Goubergen, where Ritsuo will address a selection of these questions.

Factory of the Future 2016!
On the occasion of the award of the 'Factory of the Future Awards 2016' on February 4 in Antwerp, Van Hoecke from Sint-Niklaas received an award. Immediately Van Hoecke is the first company in the wood and furniture industry to win a Factory of the Future Award. A proud Peter Van Hoecke received the award: "This award recognises all the innovative efforts our company has made these last few years. We could not have done this without the continued commitment of all our employees."

Ritsuo Shingo
Former Executive President JV Toyota China & Hino Motors

  • Ritsuo Shingo started his career with Toyota Motor Company in 1970 and retired in 2012.
  • His father, Dr. Shigeo Shingo, is a renowned expert in improving manufacturing processes, who helped to develop many aspects of the revolutionary manufacturing systems which comprise the Toyota Production System.
  • He helped in the start up of five Toyota manufacturing plants outside Japan.
  • Ritsuo Shingo spent more than 13 years in various roles at Toyota in Legal, Public relations and purchasing departments.
  • He spent 5 years in the US, at the Toyota Detroit Office and at the Toyota Motor facility in Kentucky.
  • Afterwards he moved to Toyota Motor UK before returning back to Japan to work at the China Department.
  • In 1998, he established the first Toyota Joint Venture in China, “Sichuan Toyota Motor” and became the first president of this Joint Venture.
  • In 2007, he established a new Joint Venture between Hino Motors and Guang-Qi Motors and became also here the first president.
  • He went back to Japan in 2009 where is became the president of the Toyota Technical Center until he retired from Toyota in 2012.
  • Currently he is heading the Institute of Management Improvement, which is the company that was founded by his father, Shigeo Shingo.

About Geert Engelrelst

After 20 years of Process Engineering, Project Management and Operations experience in Philips CE, Jabil Circuit, Siemens and Tyco Electronics, Geert became active in the area of Continuous Improvement at TE Connectivity in Oostkamp. Geert achieves certifications of Industrial Engineer, Green & Black Belt in Six Sigma and Lean, currently responsible as Manager Continuous Improvement at TE Connectivity in Oostkamp.
The Oostkamp facility received in 2016 the Factory of the Future Award by Sirris Agoria, based on the 7 plant transformation levels (as part of the “make different” project).
This year the plant reached also the highest level within TE connectivity on the level of lean performance -and culture, Star Level 5, which is unique within TE Connectivity based on the complexity of the Oostkamp plant. Advanced Value Stream design is meanwhile one of the lean foundational tools used to set the next structured level of transformation in the plant.
Geert is a guest instructor in our Black Belt in Lean Training and Certification Program.

About Edith De Prins

During her 17 year career within Telenet, Edith has covered several different subject matters. She managed onshore and offshore software testing, brought IT releases to a success, designed, improved and implemented business processes. Edith’s main motivator has always been operational excellence and customer intimacy. In her current position she assures continuous improvement within Telenet Business, a division of Telenet offering services to enterprises in Belgium. She obtained her Black Belt in Lean Certificate through our Lean Academy.

About Danny Hage

After 21 years working in the day-to-day patient care in different professions he started in 2011 DH Medical Consultancy to share his knowledge on creating value for the patient and care pathway design. He is a strong promoter of Lean in Healthcare and followed our Black Belt in Lean program.

About the case

Many elderly trauma patients have isolated orthopedic injuries compounded by chronic medical conditions. To reduce variations in care outcome we organized a trauma unit designed to expedite the care of geriatric patients through a multidisciplinary approach. Using Value Stream Design principles the total lead time and variation has been reduced significantly.
